CPCS Certification

CPCS, short for Construction Plant Competence Scheme is recognised by the Major Home Builders Group (MHBG), UK Contractors Group (UKCG) and other associations for complying with regulatory and health and safety requirements.

The Construction Plant Competence Scheme is one of the most trusted schemes for plant training in the UK. No matter what you do, if you own or hire plant, your operators must have appropriate plant training.

At North West Services, we work with you to ensure your plant operators become fully qualified to safely and competently operate their machine of choice.

Make your plant operators competent and comply with codes of practice with our highly skilled team of trainers.

The CPCS Scheme

The CPCS card brings standardisation for all plant operators and covers a wide range of plant and related categories. The scheme is comprised of two parts.

The first is a theoretical test to assess the knowledge of the plant operator with regards to health and safety, operating the chosen machine, and working on the site.

The second part of the test is a practical test, which assesses the plant operator’s ability to carry out various tasks on the chosen machine competently and safely.

On successful completion of both the parts of the technical tests, the operator will be awarded a Red Card. Operators holding a Red CPCS trained operator card can upgrade to a Blue CPCS competent operator card by completing an NVQ Level 2 in Plant operations.

Whether you are looking to train your operators in the Red card, Blue card or renew their certification, we provide the necessary training to ensure your operators are fully competent and fully compliant to pass the technical tests with confidence.
